Don't Breach

I was having a conversation with someone who wanted to know more information about a cleanse that I once offered.


I was curious as to why they wanted to do this and so I asked a few more questions.


They felt they needed to get back on track as they were eating foods they didn’t want to be eating. They were eating sugary foods uncontrollably and then felt like crap afterward, physically and emotionally.


Does this sound familiar to you?


What if the answer isn’t a diet, cleanse, or fast to “get back on track”?


What if these cravings are here to show you where you have disconnected from your true source of health and wholeness?


(Health and wholeness DOES NOT mean thin and flawless)


Can you be here fully with these cravings, but not give in to the craving?


Could you become so aware of what is actually happening right now and listen to what it is you truly desire?


You may realize you aren't even hungry.


You may truly desire a connection with a loved one.


You may truly desire to be creative in some way.


When you feel the craving, or the voice saying you need or want this food right now…


Slow down. Create a gap between the craving and reaching for food. Recognize the craving. Notice what is happening in your body?


Sit for a minute and notice.


Imagine this: you just dove underwater to grab an item at the bottom of the pool. You recognize you’re running out of air, so you push yourself off the bottom to quickly get to the top of the water. Just before you breach the top, you feel that NEED for air and it’s uncomfortable…


STAY RIGHT THERE, DON'T BREACH.


For just a minute stay in the discomfort and let the intensity of the craving soften just a little.


Now choose with more clarity and awareness what you truly desire.


It could be the sugary treat and that's perfectly fine. Choose to eat it with awareness. Chew it, taste it, smell it, feel it, and now notice how that makes you feel.
