A simple solution to your cravings.

Would you agree that most of us have experienced some sort of emotional eating or have eaten based on a craving? I certainly have.

Let’s focus on cravings. Our body attempts to communicate with us through many different means, one being cravings. Some examples of cravings can be:

  • Our body craves some type of food that will help in its healing process, nutritional need, etc. If you are sick, you may crave citrus fruits because of their Vitamin C content. You may crave meat or fresh fruits/veggies because your body feels an imbalance. These can be seen as helpful cravings.

  • Our body craves something that when followed in excess ultimately drains our energy and may cause disappointment or regret (i.e., sugar, alcohol, caffeine). Such as, you may have a craving for sweets and decide on eating a couple of cookies but end up eating the whole bag.

  • Our body craves some food that we associate with someone, or maybe some moment in time, and typically goes against the health plan of what we are trying to achieve. You may crave the apple pie that your grandmother made as a young child, but you just started a diet, and this goes against the plan.

But, what is underneath the craving, what is your body REALLY trying to communicate? It could be the nutritional need for healing. It could be that you're truly wanting a loving connection. Or, maybe you have been putting off your creative genius because you say you're too busy. Or, maybe you are working in a job that you're not fully satisfied with.

Our bodies are always communicating with us.

One mind-body technique that I use to stop cravings is the following:

  • First, create a gap of time between your craving and taking the action to satisfy the craving.

  • Start intentionally breathing.

  • Feel everything that arises in your body. Take notice of the feelings, thoughts, and emotions. No judgment on what comes up.

  • Continue until you feel a lessened pull to the craving.

This may not make sense at first, but when our body wants to communicate, we need to slow down and listen.

It’s simple, yet may not be easy, at first.

Don’t give up.

Like anything new that we desire, we must practice, practice, practice.

If you do choose to eat the cookies or the pie that is a perfect choice too. Do it with awareness, breathe, and enjoy every single bite.

Send me a message if you are tired of the fight and distress around eating and cravings and want more freedom and ease around your relationship with food and body.

Know that it is your birthright as a human being to be nourished by food and enjoy and love your experiences around it.

I can help you get there.

With so much love,

Healthful Tip

Do you struggle with digestion issues? Do you have chronic bloating or gas? Do you have trouble passing a daily bowel movement? Yep, poop. Nutritionists love talking poop as it tells us so much. And yes, a daily (or more) bm is ideal.

Here is a simple tip:

  1. Eat more fibrous plant matter. Yep, that means veggies!! Color up your plate and eat away!

  2. Drink more WATER!!! Water is hugely important to our digestion, healing, building, releasing, and maintaining our amazing magnificent body!

  3. Movement. We need to move our bodies. However, it has to feel right to you and you get to choose what that is. But, we must do it if you choose optimal health.
